Blackline Safety Corp. has secured a $1.8 million contract with a major California water and wastewater utility provider, the company announced Sept. 18.
The deal includes more than 560 connected safety devices and four years of monitoring services, according to the Calgary-based firm. This marks Blackline’s largest water utility contract in the United States to date.
The order consists of G7c wearable gas detectors and Blackline Docks for device calibration and charging. The agreement also includes four years of self-monitoring services for ongoing worker protection, the company said.
“This contract is an important step in our continued expansion across the water and wastewater sector,” said Sean Stinson, president and chief growth officer at Blackline Safety.
Addressing water industry hazards
Water industry workers face multiple workplace hazards including gas exposures, confined spaces, potential falls, adverse weather, customer confrontations and working alone, according to the company.
The G7c device includes features such as SOS latch, fall and no motion detection, and real-time connectivity to provide emergency response capabilities, Blackline said.
Expanding utility sector presence
Blackline Safety has steadily expanded its presence in the utilities sector over recent years, according to the company. The firm supports deployments with major providers in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe and Australia.
The company says this progress reflects increasing reliance by critical infrastructure industries on connected safety solutions to protect frontline workers.
